The Philadelphia Eagles acquire RB Jerome Harrison from the Lions

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Trades by admin on Wednesday 19 October 2011 at 1:10 am

The Eagles have acquired 28-year old RB Jerome Harrison and a 7th round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft from the Detroit Lions for 29-year old RB Ronnie Brown.  Harrison played in 4 games for the Lions this year and he carried the ball 14 times for 41 yards (2.9 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 3 yards.  Harrison played in 8 games for the Eagles last year and he carried the ball 40 times for 239 yards (6.0 ypc) with 1 TD carry and he also caught 8 passes for 43 yards (5.4 avg).  Harrison has now played in 63 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 356 times for 1,681 yards (4.7 ypc) with 7 TD runs.  He has also caught 70 passes for 490 yards (7.0 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Harrison should be able to play right away for the Eagles as he knows the playbook well and he’s a good fit in the offense.  Ronnie Brown just didn’t fit in with the Eagles.  He played in 6 games for the Eagles this year and he carried the ball 13 times for 38 yards (2.9 ypc).  This was a good deal for the Eagles.

UPDATE:  (8/19/2011) – This deal has been voided due to health issues concerning Jerome Harrison.  So Ronnie Brown is on his way back to the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles deal DT Brodrick Bunkley to the Browns

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Trades by admin on Monday 1 August 2011 at 1:16 pm

The Eagles have dealt 27-year old DT Brodrick Bunkley to the Cleveland Browns for a 5th round pick in 2012.  Bunkley played in 14 games for the Eagles last year and he had 20 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 3 tackles for a loss.  He played in 76 games in his five years with the Eagles and he had 144 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 7 passes defensed.  The Eagles just really didn’t have room on the roster for Bunkley anymore but at least they got something for him.

UPDATE:  (8/1/2011) – The Eagles trade with the Browns was cancelled because Bunkley refused to report to them.  The Eagles then dealt Bunkley to the Denver Broncos for an undisclosed 2013 draft pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie from the Cardinals

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town,Trades by admin on Friday 29 July 2011 at 7:04 pm

The Eagles have acquired 25-year old cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2nd round pick in 2012 from the Eagles for 26-year old QB Kevin Kolb.  Rodgers- Cromartie played in all 16 games for the Cardinals last year and he had 44 tackles, defensed 17 passes and he also intercepted 3 passes (2 returned for TDs).  Cromartie has now played in 48 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 136 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles, 13 interceptions (4 returned for TDs) and he defensed 61 passes.  Rodgers-Cromartie gives the Eagles a dominating pair of corners (Asante Samuel is on the other side).

Kevin Kolb played in 7 games (5 starts) for the Eagles last year and he completed 115 of 189 passes (60.8%) for 1,197 yards with 7 TD passes and 7 INTs (76.1 QB Rating).  Kolb also carried the ball 15 times for 65 yards (4.3 ypc) last year.  He played in 19 games (7 starts) in his four years with the Eagles and he completed 194 of 319 passes (60.8%) for 2,082 yards with 11 TD passes and 14 INTs (73.2 QB Rating).  Kolb also carried the ball 36 times for 64 yards (1.8 ypc) with 1 TD run for the Eagles.  Kolb was 3-4 (42.9%) as the starting QB for the Eagles.

This was a nice return for the Eagles as they are now better equipped to make a legit Super Bowl run in 2011.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire Jerome Harrison from the Browns

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Thursday 14 October 2010 at 8:21 am

The Eagles have acquired 27-year old RB Jerome Harrison from the Browns for 27-year old RB Mike Bell.  Harrison played in 4 games for the Browns this year and he has carried the ball 31 times for 91 yards (2.9 ypc) and he also has caught 4 passes for 42 yards (10.5 avg).  Harrison has now played in 51 games in his five years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 302 times for 1,401 yards (4.6 ypc) with 6 TD runs.  He has also caught 61 passes for 444 yards (7.3 avg) with 3 TD grabs in his NFL career so far.  Mike Bell played in 5 games for the Eagles this year and he had 16 carries for 28 yards (1.8 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 5 yards.  This was a steal for the Eagles as Harrison has a nice upside.

The Philadelphia Eagles deal Tracy White to the Patriots

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Sunday 5 September 2010 at 6:08 pm

The Eagles have traded 29-year old linebacker Tracy White to the Patriots for a conditional late round pick in 2012.  White played in 16 games (0 starts) for the Eagles last season and he had 35 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception last year.  He played in 26 games (0 starts) in his two years with the Eagles and he had 44 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  This was a solid trade for the Eagles who have a lot of younger players they like better than White.

The Philadelphia Eagles trade Stacy Andrews to the Seahawks

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Sunday 5 September 2010 at 5:25 pm

The Eagles have sent 29-year old G/T Stacy Andrews to the Seahawks for a 7th round pick in 2011.  Andrews played in 10 games (2 starts) last season for the Eagles in his only year with the team.  When the team acquired Reggie Wells earlier this week it made Andrews expendable and the Eagles get kudos for getting something for him rather than cutting him loose.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire OLB Antwan Barnes

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Sunday 5 September 2010 at 11:24 am

The Eagles have acquired 25-year old OLB Antwan Barnes from the Ravens for a undisclosed draft pick.  Barnes played in 11 games for the Ravens last season and he had 13 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception.  He has now played in 38 games in his three years in the NFL and he has 37 tackles, 3 passes defensed, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception.  This was a good move for the Eagles as Barnes will give them solid depth at outside linebacker.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire Reggie Wells from the Cardinals

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Saturday 4 September 2010 at 9:45 am

The Eagles have acquired 29-year old G/T Reggie Wells from the Cardinals for a future 6th round pick.  Wells is a big man at 6’4″, 314 pounds and he could win a starting job with the Eagles at some point this season.  He played in 16 games (all starts) for the Cardinals last year.  He has now played in 104 games (90 starts) in his first seven years in the NFL.  I really love this pickup for the Eagles as Wells is a talented football player who can help them now.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire Jorrick Calvin from the Cardinals

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Wednesday 1 September 2010 at 5:22 pm

The Eagles have acquired rookie CB Jorrick Calvin from the Cardinals for rookie RB Charles Scott.  Calvin played in 3 pre-season games for the Cardinals in which he made 5 tackles.  Calvin is a small guy at 5′10″, 184 pounds and he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer.  He was academically inelgible last season.  He doesn’t have much of a track record as he only played one year in college.  He had 62 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions in 2008 for Troy.  He also returned 22 punts for 149 yards (6.8 avg) and 27 kickoff returns for 693 yards (25.7 avg) with 1 TD return in 2008.  Scott played in all 3 pre-season games for the Eagles and he carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards and he caught 1 pass for 0 yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire J.J. Arrington from the Broncos

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Trades by admin on Monday 2 August 2010 at 12:44 pm

The Eagles have acquired 27-year old running back J.J. Arrington and a conditional 2012 draft pick for 25-year old inside linebacker Joe Mays.  Arrington missed all of last season due to microfracture surgery on his knee.  He last played in 2008 with the Cardinals.  Arrington has played in 58 games (8 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 183 times for 654 yards (3.6 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He has also caught 91 passes for 693 yards (7.6 avg) with 2 TD grabs as he is a solid receiver out of the backfield.  Arrington could also help out the Eagles on special teams as he has returned 114 kickoffs for 2,694 yards (23.6 avg) with 2 TD grabs in his career.  Joe Mays played in 11 games as a rookie last season for the Eagles and he had 18 tackles, 1 forced fumble  and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Eagles can replace Mays and Arrington gives them another speedy back so I like this deal for them.
