Desean Jackson is doing it all for the Philadelphia Eagles right now

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 2 October 2010 at 12:33 pm

23-year old WR/PR Desean Jackson was excellent in his first two years with the Eagles but he’s taking his game to a new level this year.  Jackson has caught 13 passes for 318 yards (24.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs already this year.  Of his 13 catches this year, 10 of them have went for first downs and 6 of them were for 20+ yards!  Jackson has also carried the ball 2 times for 13 yards (6.5 ypc) and he has returned 5 punts for 29 yards (5.8 avg).  He definitely has the look of a Pro Bowl WR if he can keep this pace up while staying healthy.

Lesean McCoy is really stepping up for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 23 September 2010 at 9:12 pm

The Eagles drafted 22-year old RB Lesean McCoy last year with the idea that he would eventually replace Brian Westbrook.  He played in 16 games last season for the Eagles in which he carried the ball 155 times for 637 yards (4.1 ypc) with 4 TD runs and he also caught 40 passes for 308 yards (7.7 avg).  The Eagles were convinced after watching McCoy last season that he was more than capable of replacing Brian Westbrook so they released him.  McCoy is proving that was a smart decision for the Eagles.  In his first two games this year, McCoy has carried the ball 23 times for 155 yards (6.7 ypc) with 4 TD runs.  He has also caught 9 passes for 55 yards (6.1 avg) this year.  Eagles’ QBs are 9 for 9 when throwing to McCoy as he has a great set of hands.  The sky is the limit for Lesean McCoy as long as he can handle the beating he’s going to take.

Michael Vick might get the start at QB for the Philadelphia Eagles this week

Kevin Kolb suffered a wicked looking concussion last Sunday as Packers’ OLB Clay Matthews drove his head into the turf.  Kolb completed 5 of 10 passes for 24 yards and he also carried the ball 1 time for 1 yard while on the field Sunday.  Doctor’s won’t clear Kolb to return to practice until Friday at the earliest meaning that Michael Vick could get the start against the Lions this Sunday.  Vick played great in Kolb’s absence last Sunday.  He completed 16 of 24 passes (66.7%) for 175 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (101.9 QB Rating).  Vick also carried the ball 11 times for 103 yards (9.4 ypc) against the Packers last Sunday.  Andy Reid has made it perfectly clear that Kevin Kolb will return to the starting lineup as soon as he is cleared to return to action.

The Philadelphia Eagles will need Michael Vick to be ready in 2010

The Eagles have already annointed Kevin Kolb as the starting QB in 2010.  But, he is far from a sure thing as he doesn’t have much experience.  Vick will not get to compete for the starting job in September but the Eagles will have him ready in case Kolb falters or gets injured.  Vick played in 12 games for the Eagles last season completing 6 of 13 passes (46.2%) for 86 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (93.7 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 24 times for 95 yards (4.0 ypc) with 2 TD runs last season.  He has now played in 86 games in his NFL career and he has completed 936 of 1,743 passes (53.7%) for 11,591 yards with 72 TD passes and 52 INTs (75.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 553 times for 3,954 yards (7.2 ypc) with 23 TD runs in his NFL career.  Vick wouldn’t seem to be a good fit in the Eagles’ offense as a starting QB as they like to pass the ball a lot while his best skill is running the ball.

The Philadelphia Eagles will need Kevin Kolb to step up in 2010 and beyond

The Eagles took a big risk in trading Donovan McNabb.  They will hand the starting job over to 25-year old Kevin Kolb who doesn’t have much experience.  He played in 5 games for the Eagles last season and he completed 62 of 96 passes (64.6%) for 741 yards with 4 TD passes and 3 INTs (88.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 5 times for -1 yard (-0.2 ypc) with 1 TD run.  In his three years with the Eagles, Kolb has played in 12 games completing 79 of 130 passes (60.8%) for 885 yards with 4 TD passes and 7 INTs (68.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 21 times for -1 yard (0.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  There will be a ton of pressure on Kolb in 2010 especially with Donovan McNabb still in the NFC East.

The Philadelphia Eagles are really loaded on the roster at QB

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 8 January 2010 at 7:28 pm

The Eagles have three QBs on the roster all with starting experience and they are all pretty good.  It all starts with 33-year old Donovan McNabb.  McNabb played in 14 games this season for the Eagles and he has completed 267 of 443 passes (60.3%) for 3,553 yards with 22 TD passes and 10 INTs (92.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 37 times for 140 yards (3.8 ypc) with 2 TD carries this year.  McNabb has now played in 148 games in his career with the Eagles and he has completed 2,801 of 4,746 (59%) passes for 32,873 yards with 216 TD passes and 100 INTs (86.5 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 573 times for 3,249 yards (5.7 ypc) with 28 TD runs.  A couple more really solid seasons for McNabb would really give him a solid case for making the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

25-year old Kevin Kolb really stepped up this season when McNabb was out due to injury.  He played in 5 games this season for the Eagles and he completed 62 of 96 passes (64.6%) for 741 yards with 4 TD passes and 3 INTs (88.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 5 times for -1 yard (-0.2 ypc) this year.  Kolb has now played in 12 games in his career with the Eagles and he has completed 79 of 130 passes (60.8%) for 885 yards with 4 TD passes and 7 INTs (68.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 21 times for -1 yard (-0.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  The Eagles might put Kolb on the trading block around draft day in April but if not he should be a solid back-up to McNabb again in 2010.

29-year old Michael Vick fresh out of jail helped out the Eagles a little bit in 2009.  Vick played in 12 games for the Eagles this season and he completed 6 of 13 passes (46.2%) for 86 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (93.7 QB Rating).  Vick also carried the ball 24 times for 95 yards (4.0 ypc) with 2 TD runs this year.  Vick has now played in 86 games in his NFL career and he has completed 936 of 1,743 passes (53.7%) for 11,591 yards with 72 TD passes and 52 INTs (75.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 553 times for 3,954 yards (7.2 ypc) with 23 TD runs.  I doubt that the Eagles will pick up Vick’s option for 2010 unless they trade Kevin Kolb which I don’t think would be too smart of a move.

Desean Jackson is stepping up for the Philadelphia Eagles this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 19 December 2009 at 5:46 pm

23-year old WR/PR Desean Jackson is even more lethal than he was as a rookie last season.  Jackson has played in 12 games for the Eagles this season and he has caught 50 passes for 947 yards (18.9 avg) with 7 TD grabs.  He also has carried the ball 8 times for 125 yards (15.6 ypc) with a TD this year.  That’s no all Jackson has done though as he has returned 23 punts for 409 yards (17.8 avg) with 2 TD returns this year.  Jackson has touched the ball 82 times for 1,481 yards (18.1 avg. per touch) with 10 total TDs for the Eagles this year.  He is averaging 123.4 all-purpose yards this season as he is the Eagles’ most lethal weapon on offense.

Michael Vick has been playing better lately for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 19 December 2009 at 5:42 pm

29-year old QB Michael Vick likely doesn’t have much of a future with the Eagles but he is at least helping them on the field lately.  He has played in 11 games for the Eagles this season and he has completed 6 of 13 passes (46.2%) for 86 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (93.7 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 22 times for 93 yards (4.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs this year.  The Eagles have a option for the 2010 season on Michael Vick worth over $5 million bucks but they won’t pick it up.  Not with Donovan McNabb still playing at a high level and Kevin Kolb solidifying himself as the back-up QB this year.

Donovan McNabb is showing no signs of slowing down for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 3 December 2009 at 11:15 am

33-year old QB Donvan McNabb is still playing at a really high level for the Eagles this season.  He has played in 9 games for the Eagles this season and he has completed 175 of 285 passes (61.4%) for 2,189 yards with 15 TD passes and 6 INTs (94.0 QB Rating).  McNabb has also carried the ball 22 times for 76 yards (3.5 ypc) with 1 TD run this year.  McNabb is still a QB that can lead the Eagles to where they want to go and that is back to the Super Bowl.

Jason Avant is picking up his game on offense for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 25 November 2009 at 1:29 pm

26-year old WR Jason Avant is finally stepping up for the Eagles.  He has played in 10 games this season for the Eagles and he has caught 27 passes for 380 yards (14.1 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Avant has not played as much on special teams as usual as he has 2 tackles and 1 forced fumble this year.  Look for that to continue as long as he is playing well offensively.  Avant has now played 4 years for the Eagles and he has caught 89 passes for 1,092 yards (12.3 avg) with 7 TD grabs.  He also has 22 tackles and 1 forced fumble in his NFL career.  It’s about time that Avant has stepped up because the Eagles have been waiting for him to do so.  Hopefully he will keep up the good work.
