Lesean McCoy has been excellent for the Philadelphia Eagles this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 24 December 2010 at 12:31 am

22-year old RB Lesean McCoy has been really outstanding this season for the Eagles.  McCoy has played in 14 games for the Eagles already this year and he has carried the ball 194 times for 1,036 yards (5.3 ypc) with 7 TD runs.  He has also caught 74 passes for 551 yards (7.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs so far this year.  McCoy has rushed for over 100 yards three times this season and he has also had 100+ yards receiving in a game once this year.  He has more than replaced Brian Westbrook.  McCoy has played in 30 games in his first two years for the Eagles and he has carried the ball 349 times for 1,673 yards (4.8 ypc) with 11 TD runs.  He has also caught 114 passes for 859 yards (7.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs in his NFL career.  Michael Vick and the passing game get all the pub, but the Eagles wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as they are on offense without Lesean McCoy.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose Nate Allen for the year

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Steppin Up,The Draft Report by admin on Friday 24 December 2010 at 12:10 am

The Philadelphia Eagles have lost 23-year old rookie safety Nate Allen for the rest of the season due to a torn patellar tendon.  Allen played in 13 games as a rookie for the Eagles and he had 48 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 8 passes defensed, 3 interceptions and 1 forced fumble.  This is a HUGE loss for the Eagles as Allen really played well for them this season.  22-year old rookie Kurt Coleman will replace Allen in the starting lineup.  Coleman was a 7th round pick out of Ohio State last April.  He has played in all 14 games for the Eagles this year and he has 29 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  The Eagles really need Coleman to step up.

Rookie safety Nate Allen is having a good year for the Philadelphia Eagles

23-year old rookie safety Nate Allen has been outstanding for the Eagles so far this year.  Allen has played in 12 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has 45 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, 8 passes defensed, 3 interceptions and 1 forced fumble.  Allen is third on the Eagles in interceptions and they have 22 as a team this year!  Allen was part of a deep draft for the Eagles and he is one of the best defensive rookies in the NFL this year.

Michael Vick continues to amaze for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 11 December 2010 at 5:09 pm

30-year old QB Michael Vick continues to amaze as he has not had a QB Rating of under 90.8 in any game this year.  Every game this season, Vick has had a QB Rating of between 90.8 and 150.7.  Vick has now played in 9 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has completed 171 of 268 passes (63.8%) for 2,243 yards with 15 TD passes and 2 INTs (105.7 QB Rating).  Vick also has carried the ball 74 times for 467 yards (6.3 ypc) with 6 TD runs so far this year.  Vick’s play this year has been a very pleasant surprise for the Eagles who were smart to jettison Donovan McNabb to the Redskins.

Jerome Harrison has looked good so far for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 2 December 2010 at 4:14 pm

27-year old RB Jerome Harrison has played well when given a chance so far for the Eagles.  Harrison has played in 4 games for the Eagles this year and he has carried the ball 14 times for 117 yards (8.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 2 passes for 19 yards (9.5 avg) for the Eagles.  Harrison looks like the perfect backup for Lesean McCoy because he appears to have a similar skill set.  I really liked this deal that brought in Harrison as Mike Bell wasn’t going to help the Eagles this year.

Andy Reid has the Philadelphia Eagles right where he wants them

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 19 November 2010 at 4:46 pm

52-year old head coach Andy Reid is looking like a genius for dealing Donovan McNabb to the Redskins.  He has been getting amazing play from Michael Vick this year and let’s face it…..Reid is a offensive minded coach.  The Eagles are averaging 400.2 yards per game and 28.6 points per game so far this year and that is the main reason why they are 6-3 and tied with the Giants at the top of the NFC East.  The Eagles are now 114-70-1 (62%) in  Reid’s 12 years during the regular season.

Rookie Jorrick Calvin is making a nice impact for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up,The Draft Report by admin on Friday 29 October 2010 at 2:28 pm

Rookie CB Jorrick Calvin was acquired from the Cardinals in a deal during training camp (he as a 6th round pick by the Cardinals last April).  Calvin has made a huge impact on the team on special teams.  Calvin has played in 6 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has returned 7 punts for 160 yards (22.9 avg).  He has also returned 7 punts for 93 yards (13.3 avg) so far this year.  Calvin only has 1 tackle so far this year but the Eagles don’t really need him on D.  This is looking like a steal of a deal for the Eagles.

Nate Allen has been outstanding for the Philadelphia Eagles so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up,The Draft Report by admin on Friday 29 October 2010 at 2:23 pm

Rookie safety Nate Allen was picked in the second round last April out of South Florida.  He has been a starter since day #1 for the Eagles.  Allen has played in 7 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has 31 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 6 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  The Eagles look like they have hit a homer with Nate Allen as he is a impact playmaker at the back end of the defense.  He has a very, very bright future for the Eagles.

Trent Cole continues to be an unstoppable force on D for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 22 October 2010 at 9:09 am

When anyone starts talking about great pass rushing DEs, Trent Cole’s name is rarely brought up.  28-year old Cole has played in six games for the Eagles so far this year and he has 31 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 2 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.  Cole has now played in 85 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has 343 tackles, 13 passes defensed, 52 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and 1 interception (he returned it 19 yards for a TD).  Trent Cole is Philadelphia’s great secret in sports as he is a excellent football player.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a good problem at QB

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 22 October 2010 at 9:04 am

26-year old Kevin Kolb & 30-year old Michael Vick give the Eagles a dynamic combination at QB.  Michael Vick is the starter when healthy according to Andy Reid.  He said the same thing about Kevin Kolb earlier in the year and he started Vick anyway so you have to take his words with a grain of salt.  Vick has played well this year as he has played in 4 games in which he has completed 59 of 96 passes (61.5%) for 799 yards with 6 TD passes and 0 INTs (108.8 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 26 times for 187 yards (7.2 ypc) with 1 TD carry so far this year.  While those are impressive numbers, Kevin Kolb is also putting up great numbers.  Kolb has played in 4 games this year too and he has completed 71 of 105 passes (67.6%) for 804 yards with 5 TD passes and 2 INTs (98.3 QB Rating).  Kolb has also carried the ball 7 times for 39 yards (5.6 ypc) so far this year.  So no matter which QB Andy Reid decides to go with the Eagles’ offense should continue to operate like a well oiled machine.
