The Philadelphia Eagles lose Brodrick Bunkley indefinitely

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 12 October 2010 at 2:19 pm

The Eagles will be without 26-year old DT Brodrick Bunkley indefinitely as he will need surgery to repair a torn elbow ligament.  Bunkley has played in 5 games so far this year for the Eagles and he has 9 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  Bunkley has now played 5 seasons for the Eagles appearing in 67 games in which he has 133 tackles, 6 passes defensed and 6 sacks.  This will hurt the depth of the Eagles’ D-Line going forward.

The Philadelphia will likely be without Lesean McCoy for a while

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 5 October 2010 at 11:35 am

Starting RB Lesean McCoy has a fractured rib which will likely cause him to miss at least 1-2 weeks.  This could be a huge blow to the Eagles’ offense as McCoy has been incredible so far this year.  McCoy has played in 4 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has carried the ball 50 times for 273 yards (5.5 ypc) with 4 TD runs.  He has also caught 23 passes for 172 yards (7.5 avg) already this year.  The Eagles will likely turn to Mike Bell to start if McCoy can’t give it a go.  Bell is a power runner and he’s not much of a receiver out of the backfield so the Eagles will likely have to tweak the offense a big.  Bell has played in 4 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has carried the ball 12 times for 20 yards (1.7 ypc) and he has also caught 1 pass for 5 yards.  The Eagles need Bell to step up if McCoy can’t go.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose Michael Vick to injury

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 5 October 2010 at 11:31 am

The Eagles will be without starting QB Michael Vick for at least the next week or two due to a rib cartilage injury.  Vick played in the Eagles first four games this year and he has completed 59 of 96 passes (61.5%) for 799 yards with 6 TD passes and 0 INTs (108.8 QB Rating).  Vick also has carried the ball 26 times for 187 yards (7.2 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  Kevin Kolb will need to step up and get the Eagles back on the right track.  Kolb has played in 2 games this year for the Eagles and he has completed 27 of 45 passes (60%) for 225 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT (71.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 2 times for 21 yards (10.5 ypc) this year.  This is Kolb’s big chance to get his starting job back if he can excel while Vick is out of action.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose Nick Cole for at least one game

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 29 September 2010 at 9:24 am

The Eagles will be without 26-year old starting RG Nick Cole for at least 1 week due to swelling in his left knee.  He has started all 3 games for the Eagles so far this year.  29-year old veteran Reggie Wells will replace Cole as long as he is out of action.  Wells has played in 1 game for the Eagles so far this year and he has yet to start a game.  Wells is a decent backup with a lot of starting experiece so he should be able to do a solid job while Cole recovers.

Michael Vick might get the start at QB for the Philadelphia Eagles this week

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 14 September 2010 at 5:07 pm

Kevin Kolb suffered a wicked looking concussion last Sunday as Packers’ OLB Clay Matthews drove his head into the turf.  Kolb completed 5 of 10 passes for 24 yards and he also carried the ball 1 time for 1 yard while on the field Sunday.  Doctor’s won’t clear Kolb to return to practice until Friday at the earliest meaning that Michael Vick could get the start against the Lions this Sunday.  Vick played great in Kolb’s absence last Sunday.  He completed 16 of 24 passes (66.7%) for 175 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (101.9 QB Rating).  Vick also carried the ball 11 times for 103 yards (9.4 ypc) against the Packers last Sunday.  Andy Reid has made it perfectly clear that Kevin Kolb will return to the starting lineup as soon as he is cleared to return to action.

Stewart Bradley might miss some time for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 14 September 2010 at 5:02 pm

Starting inside linebacker Stewart Bradley suffered a wicked concussion against the Packers last week.  He collapsed on the field and then for some reason the Eagles allowed him to go back into the game later.  He finished with 1 tackle and he might have to miss some time as he won’t be cleared to practice until at least Friday.  Look for 26-year old Omar Gaither to start in Bradley’s spot this Sunday against the Lions.  Gaither had 5 tackles against the Packers last Sunday after Bradley left the game.  He played in 5 games for the Eagles last season in which he had 30 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1.5 sacks.  Gaither will do a decent job while Bradley is out of action but the Eagles will miss Bradley.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose starting center Jamaal Jackson for the year

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 14 September 2010 at 4:38 pm

The Eagles have lost starting center Jamaal Jackson for the season due to a torn biceps muscle suffered against the Packers last Sunday.  Jackson is one of the best linemen the Eagles have so he’s going to be hard to replace.  When Jackson got hurt last season the Eagles slid starting guard Nick Cole to that spot.  They don’t want to do that again in 2010.  With that in mind they are likely going to give 25-year old Mike McGlynn a shot to start at center.  McGlynn is a big guy at 6’4″, 315 pounds but he doesn’t have a lot of experience.  He played in Sunday’s game against the Packers which was only his 4th appearance in a regular season game for the Eagles in three years with the team.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose fullback Leonard Weaver for the year

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 14 September 2010 at 4:34 pm

The Eagles have lost 27-year old starting fullback Leonard Weaver for the rest of the year after he tore his left ACL.  Weaver only carried the ball 1 time for 0 yards in the brutal contest against the Packers last Sunday.  The Eagles are going to miss Weaver big time as he was a weapon with the ball in his hands unlike many fullbacks in the NFL.  Weaver played in 16 games (8 starts) for the Eagles last season and he carried the ball 70 times for 323 yards (4.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 15 passes for 140 yards (9.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs last year.  Fullbacks like Weaver don’t go on trees and this is going to be a big loss for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose safety Marlin Jackson

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 3 June 2010 at 7:28 am

The Eagles have lost safety Marlin Jackson to a ruptured right Achilles tendon in practice.  He will miss the whole 2010 season for the Eagles.  In the Eagles’ initial depth chart Jackson was #2 at free safety behind rookie 2nd round pick Nate Allen.  This injury will hurt the Eagles because it will pretty much force them to start Allen with no fall back option.  Look for the Eagles to be scouring the rest of the free agent market for a veteran safety to bring in to back up Allen.

The Philadelphia Eagles pick OLB/DE Ricky Sapp in the 5th round

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Tuesday 11 May 2010 at 11:48 am

The Eagles have picked OLB/DE Ricky Sapp out of Clemson with the 134th pick of the NFL Draft (5th round).  Sapp is 6’4″, 245 pounds and he runs a 4.5 40 showing freakish athletic ability.  The Eagles will likely try to convert him to OLB but they might use him some at end in passing situations.  Sapp played in 14 games (all starts) for Clemson last season and he had 60 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, he forced 1 fumble and he recovered 1 fumble.  In his four years at Clemson, Sapp played in 47 games (36 starts) in which he finished up with 147 tackles, 39 tackles for a loss, 17.5 sacks, 5 batted down passes, 3 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.  Sapp was supposed to be picked in the 2nd or 3rd round according to most draft experts so the Eagles got outstanding value with this pick.

UPDATE:  (8/31/2010) – The Eagles have placed Sapp on the Injured Reserve List with a knee injury.
