The Eagles have lost 2nd year defensive end Victor Abiamiri indefinately after he underwent surgery earlier this week to repair a dislocated wrist.  The 22-year old only played in 6 games as a rookie for the Eagles (1 start) and he made a whopping 3 tackles.  The Eagles can afford to wait for Abiamiri without making a trade for another DE.

Jack Ikegwuonu will miss his rookie season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL.  The Eagles will be content to wait for Ikegwuonu who has a pretty good safety in college.  He excels in zone coverage but he isn’t the best man to man defender around.  He played in 39 games (30 starts) at Wisconsin and he finished with 91 tackles, broke up 34 passes and had 6 interceptions.  The Eagles are hoping that Ikegwuonu will develop into a starting player down the road for them.

The Eagles will be without starting safety Brian Dawkins who will miss another game with a neck stinger.  He has only made 7 tackles this season but he’s one of the leaders of the defense and will be missed.  Quintin Mikell will start again in his place and he’s played pretty well this season.  He has 19 tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery so far this season.

The Eagles have lost starting tight end for at least a month after he has underwent a second hernia surgery.  Smith has caught 4 passes for 26 yards (6.5 avg) so far this season.  Smith will be replaced by Matt Schobel (3 rec, 29 yards) and rookie Brent Celek.  Keep an eye on Celek who was very impressive in the pre-season for the Eagles.

Rookie linebacker Stewart Bradley has surgery on a broken bone in his hand on Monday.  Bradley has been a reserve linebacker and special teams player so far this season.  He has 4 tackles on the year so far.
