The Philadelphia Eagles sign RB P.J. Hill

The Eagles have signed undrafted running back P.J. Hill off the Saints’ practice squad.  He definately has a lot of talent and he showed it in the pre-season for the Saints but he was caught in a numbers games there with the depth that they have at running back.  Hill will back up Lesean McCoy and Eldra Buckley until Brian Westbrook is healthy enough to return to action.  This was a good move for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles sign Jeremiah Trotter

The Eagles have signed 32-year old linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.  Trotter last played in the NFL in 2007 with the Buccaneers.  Trotter has played in 134 games in his NFL career in which he has made 876 tackles, has defensed 50 passes, 12 1/2 sacks, forced 8 fumbles and he has picked off 9 passes (2 returned for a TD).  Trotter played 7 years for the Eagles earlier in his career and he’s glad to be coming back to the City of Brotherly Love.  This was a good move for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles sign TE Martin Rucker

The Eagles have signed 24-year old TE Martin Rucker to the practice squad.  He played in 5 games (1 start) for the Browns last season and he caught 2 passes for 17 yards (8.5 avg).  Despite not showing much with the Browns he was a good receiver in college at Missouri so maybe he can help the Eagles down the road.

Philadelphia Eagles sign veteran QB Jeff Garcia

The Philadelphia Eagles signed 10-year veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia Monday to add a little more back-up for the injured Donavon McNabb.  McNabb left the Eagles game against the Carolina Panthers with a broken rib, but he has yet to rule himself out of the Eagles week two match-up against the New Orleans Saints.  With Michael Vick still serving his suspension, the Eagles must have felt that Kevin Kolb is not solid enough to fill in for McNabb if he can’t go.  Garcia was on the Eagles in 2006 and did a a great job filling in for McNabb that season when he missed six games.  Garcia went 5-1 filling in for McNabb that year and the Eagles hope he can bring that success to this years squad if need be.

The Philadelphia Eagles sign TE Tony Curtis

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Eagles News, General by admin on Saturday 29 August 2009 at 11:35 am

The Eagles have signed 26-year old TE Tony Curtis.  Curtis played in all 16 games (6 starts) for the rival Cowboys last season and he caught 8 passes for 32 yards (4.0 avg).  Curtis has now played in 36 games (6 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 11 passes for 50 yards (4.5 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Curtis is a good target in the Red Zone and he should be able to help out with inside info on the Cowboys.
