Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pro Bowl by admin on Wednesday 28 December 2011 at 7:25 pm

The Eagles are sending three players to the Pro Bowl.  31-year old DE Jason Babin has been incredible for the Eagles so far this year.  He has played in 15 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has 38 tackles, 18 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.  He has been a true late bloomer for the Eagles.  23-year old RB Lesean McCoy turned in the best year of his NFL career in 2011.  He has played in 15 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has carried the ball 273 times for 1,309 yards (4.8 ypc) with 17 TD runs.  McCoy has also caught 48 passes for 315 yards (6.6 avg) with 3 TD grabs so far this year.  29-year old OT Jason Peters has played in 13 games (all starts) for the Eagles so far this year.  All three of the Eagles going to the Pro Bowl were elected to the team as starters.

Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles is out for tomorrow’s game with the Giants

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Saturday 19 November 2011 at 10:19 pm

31-year old QB Michael Vick is out for tomorrow night’s game against the Giants due to broken ribs.  He has played in 9 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has completed 181 of 300 passes (60.3%) for 2,193 yards with 11 TD passes and 11 INTs (79.8 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 65 times for 535 yards (8.2 ypc) so far this year.  28-year old Vince Young will get the start tomorrow night.  He has played in 2 games for the Eagles so far this year and he is 0 for 1 passing with 1 interception (0.0 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards this year.  Young has never played in a pass first offense, so he might not be up to the challenge.  Young has played in 56 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has completed 689 of 1,191 passes (57.9%) for 8,098 yards with 42 TD passes and 43 INTs (75.3 QB Rating).  Young has also carried the ball 265 times for 1,382 yards (5.2 ypc) with 12 TD runs so far in his career.  The Eagles might need Vince Young to start for a few weeks, so they need him to step up.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for a while

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 14 November 2011 at 10:00 pm

The Eagles will be without #3 CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for the next 2-4 weeks due to a high ankle sprain.  He has played in 9 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has 20 tackles, 1 sack, 5 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  This is too bad for Rodgers-Cromartie as he has been upset about his P.T. so far this year.  It’s hard to move up the depth chart when you can’t run.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquire RB Jerome Harrison from the Lions

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Trades by admin on Wednesday 19 October 2011 at 1:10 am

The Eagles have acquired 28-year old RB Jerome Harrison and a 7th round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft from the Detroit Lions for 29-year old RB Ronnie Brown.  Harrison played in 4 games for the Lions this year and he carried the ball 14 times for 41 yards (2.9 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 3 yards.  Harrison played in 8 games for the Eagles last year and he carried the ball 40 times for 239 yards (6.0 ypc) with 1 TD carry and he also caught 8 passes for 43 yards (5.4 avg).  Harrison has now played in 63 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 356 times for 1,681 yards (4.7 ypc) with 7 TD runs.  He has also caught 70 passes for 490 yards (7.0 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  Harrison should be able to play right away for the Eagles as he knows the playbook well and he’s a good fit in the offense.  Ronnie Brown just didn’t fit in with the Eagles.  He played in 6 games for the Eagles this year and he carried the ball 13 times for 38 yards (2.9 ypc).  This was a good deal for the Eagles.

UPDATE:  (8/19/2011) – This deal has been voided due to health issues concerning Jerome Harrison.  So Ronnie Brown is on his way back to the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose DT Antonio Dixon for the rest of the year

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 4 October 2011 at 4:51 pm

The Eagles have lost 26-year old DT Antonio Dixon for the rest of the season due to a torn left triceps.  Dixon played in 4 games for the Eagles this year and he had 4 tackles.  He has now played in 35 games in his first three years with the Eagles and he has 49 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 passes defensed and 5 tackles for a loss.  28-year old Mike Patterson and 26-year old Trevor Laws will have to pick up the pace with Dixon done for the year.  Patterson has played in 4 games for the Eagles this year and he has 7 tackles while Laws has played in 3 games and he has 7 tackles for the Eagles so far this year.  The Eagles have also re-signed 28-year old DT Derek Landri, who has one of the Eagles’ last cuts before the season opened.  He played in all 16 games for the Panthers last year and he had 43 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defensed and 7 tackles for a loss.  Landri should be able to help the Eagles some inside.

Michael Vick is iffy for the Philadelphia Eagles’ game this weekend against the Giants

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 21 September 2011 at 8:42 pm

31-year old QB Michael Vick got handed a concussion by his old team (the Falcons) in last Sunday Night’s game.  Therefore he is iffy for this weekend’s tilt against the Giants.  Vick has played in both of the Eagles games so far this year and he has completed 33 of 60 passes (55%) for 429 yards with 4 TD passes and 1 INT (93.0 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 17 times for 122 yards (7.2 ypc) so far this year.  With Vince Young still nowhere near to 100% with an ankle injury, 24-year old Mike Kafka will start against the Giants if Michael Vick isn’t cleared to play.  Kafka made his NFL debut against the Falcons last Sunday Night and he completed 7 of 9 passes (77.8%) for 72 yards without a TD pass or INT (100.0 QB Rating).  Kafka also carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards against the Falcons.  Head Coach Andy Reid has a lot of confidence in Kafka, but he’s still hoping that Vick will be ready to go this Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles have waived CB Trevard Lindley

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 7 September 2011 at 9:10 pm

The Eagles have waived 25-year old cornerback Trevard Lindley.  Lindley played in 11 games as a rookie last year for the Eagles and he had 23 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 interception.  He got caught in a numbers game in Philly, as they are loaded at corner for the 2011 season.  Some team is going to snap him up off waivers, you can bet on that.

The Philadelphia Eagles place DE Brandon Graham on the PUP list

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 4:23 pm

The Eagles have placed 23-year old DE Brandon Graham on the PUP list as he continues to recover from microfracture surgery.  He will miss at least the first six games of the 2011 season.  He played in 13 games for the Eagles as a rookie last year and he had 13 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.  Graham showed glimpses of being a really good pass rusher as a rookie, so they hope he will recover 100% from his injury at some point in 2011.

The Philadelphia Eagles claim OG Kyle DeVan off waivers

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 1:49 pm

The Eagles have claimed 26-year old guard Kyle DeVan off waivers from the Colts.  DeVan played in all 16 games (12 starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 31 games (21 starts) in his first two years in the NFL.  This was a great pickup for the Eagles as DeVan has a lot of playing experience.  He will enhance the O-Line depth for the Eagles in 2011 and he might even work his way into the starting lineup at some point in the year.

The Philadelphia Eagles release WR Sinorice Moss

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 7:02 pm

The Eagles have released 27-year old WR Sinorice Moss.  Moss played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Giants last year and he caught only 1 pass for 18 yards.  Moss has played in 37 games (2 starts) in his first four years in the NFL and he has caught 39 passes for 421 yards (10.8 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  He also has returned 11 punts for 74 yards (6.7 avg) and 24 kickoffs for 465 yards (19.4 avg) in his NFL career.  This is no loss for the Eagles, who are loaded at WR for 2011.
