The Philadelphia Eagles should bench Desean Jackson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 6:59 pm

25-year old WR Desean Jackson has bitched about his contract all year long, which is fine.  But, his utter lack of effort this year is unacceptable.  He should be benched for conduct detrimental to the team.  He has played in 11 games for the Eagles so far this year and he has caught 43 passes for 698 yards (16.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  His alligator arms on passes over the middle can’t be tolerated anymore.  He has also carried the ball 5 times for 14 yards (2.8 ypc) and he has returned 12 punts for 87 yards (7.3 avg) this year.  His poor attitude is rubbing off on the rest of the team, so maybe they should just suspend him for a while.

The Philadelphia Eagles sign safety Tom Nelson

The Eagles have signed 25-year old safety Tom Nelson.  Nelson played in 8 games for the Bengals last year and he had 9 tackles.  He has now played in 20 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 34 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Nelson will likely replace Colt Anderson on special teams.  Unlike Anderson, Nelson could be able to help on defense if he’s needed there for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles lose safety Colt Anderson for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 3:45 am

The Eagles have lost 26-year old safety Colt Anderson for the season due to a torn left ACL.  He played in 12 games for the Eagles this year and he had 11 tackles.  He has now played in 20 games in his first two years with the Eagles and he has 27 tackles.  Anderson was a core player on special teams for the Eagles, so he will be missed.

Seattle Seahawks 31, Philadelphia Eagles 14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Reports,General by admin on Friday 2 December 2011 at 1:08 pm

The Eagles showed no heart in Seattle last night and it showed on the scoreboard as the Seahawks took them behind the woodshed!  Vince Young was awful as he threw a pickoff on his first pass last night.  He completed 17 of 29 passes for 208 yards with 1 TD pass and 4 interceptions (one returned 77 yards for a TD by Seahawks’ LB David Hawthorne).  He also carried the ball 5 times for 32 yards (6.4 ypc) in this game.  Lesean McCoy was a warrior last night as he was playing hurt.  He carried the ball 17 times for 84 yards (4.9 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 4 passes for 49 yards (12.3 avg) with a TD grab.  WR Riley Cooper led the way for the Eagles in the passing game last night with 5 grabs for 94 yards (18.8 avg).  Desean Jackson pulled himself from the game last night in the 3rd quarter after catching only 4 passes for 34 yards (8.5 avg).  The Eagles finished up with 132 yards rushing on 25 carries (5.3 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 29 passes (58.6%) for 198 yards as they had possession of the ball for 29:40.

The defense was awful as the Seahawks pushed them ar0und last night.  LB Jamar Chaney (12 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), safety Nate Allen (12 tackles) and safety Kurt Coleman (11 tackles, 2 QB hits) led the way for the Eagles’ “D” last night.  The Seahawks finished up with 174 yards rushing on 33 carries (5.3 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 16 passes (81.3%) for 173 yards last night.  The Eagles are now a putrid 4-8 on the year.

Philadelphia Eagles (4-7) vs. Seattle Seahawks (4-7)

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Thursday 1 December 2011 at 1:23 pm

The Eagles have been one of the most disappointing teams of the year.  Vince Young dubbed the Eagles the “Dream Team”, but that moniker sure doesn’t fit.  The Eagles have lost three of their last four games as they have not been putting much of an effort up lately.  The Seahawks lost a game that should have won last week against the Redskins, but they are a tough home team.  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Eagles have the ball:  The Eagles could be in trouble tonight as they are banged up on offense.  Lesean McCoy has a banged up toe and he was going to have trouble with the Seahawks’ D even if they was 100% healthy as they are only giving up 100.9 yards rushing per game and 3.5 yards per carry.  Vince Young needs to protect the ball better instead of throwing the ball up for grabs as he has been lately.  WRs Riley Cooper and Desean Jackson are going to have to have good games tonight if the Eagles are going to win.  TE Brent Celek has been playing well lately, but Vince Young has to be careful throwing to him as safeties Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas are playmakers at the back end of the Seahawks’ D.

When the Seahawks have the ball:  The Seahawks are likely to run the ball a lot in this game as Marshawn Lynch has been playing his best football in the last few games.  The Eagles are giving up 110.3 yards rushing per game and 4.3 yards per carry so far this year, but they have been playing a lot better against the running game lately.  The Eagles have 30 sacks already this year and the Seahawks have given up 36 of them, so QB Tarvaris Jackson might be running for his life tonight.  Jackson will likely have to keep the passing game shorter and let his WRs, TEs and RBs get yards after the catch.

PREDICTION:  EAGLES 23, SEAHAWKS 17

Riley Cooper is stepping up for the Philadelphia Eagles

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 1 December 2011 at 4:28 am

24-year old WR Riley Cooper has played in 11 games this year for the Eagles, but his 8 catches for 146 yards (18.3 avg) with 1 TD grab has all happened in this last two games.  He has now played in 24 games in his first two years with the Eagles and he has caught 15 passes for 262 yards (17.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Cooper is getting big time points with the organization as he has really stepped up for them when they needed him most.
