Philadelphia Eagles vs. Baltimore Ravens

This should be a good football game as the Eagles (5-4-1) and Ravens (6-4) both need this game to remain in the playoff hunt.  The Eagles will come out throwing the ball against the Ravens’ defense as they are averaging 268.5 yards per game through the air.  McNabb must be careful though as the Ravens’ defense is full of ballhawks picking off 15 passes already this season.  If Brian Westbrook doesn’t play in this game (possibility) then the Eagles will find running the ball very tough against a Ravens’ defense that is allowing only 79.6 yards rushing per game and 3.4 yards per carry.

The Ravens are only 1-4 against teams with winning records and that applies in the game tomorrow.  The Ravens must run the football effectively in this game as they are averaging 146.8 yards rushing per game and 4.0 ypc.  Still, it won’t be easy against a Eagles’ defense that is only allowing 98.7 yards rushing per game and 3.6 ypc.  Joe Flacco needs support from the running game or he could be in trouble as the Eagles have 36 sacks and 9 interceptions this season.

PREDICTION:  PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 17, BALTIMORE RAVENS 16

Donovan McNabb is having another solid season for the Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles’ fans are sometimes tough on Donovan McNabb but he’s still one of the better QBs in the NFL.  McNabb has played in 9 games for the Eagles this season and he has completed 199 of 324 passes (61.4%) for 2,372 yards with 13 TD passes and 5 interceptions (90.7 QB Rating).  He can still run the ball when he has to as he has carried the ball 22 times for 86 yards (3.9 ypc) with 1 TD run.  McNabb has stayed in the pocket way more than usual this season and it’s kept him healthy so far.  The Eagles can’t make the playoffs without him.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cincinnati Bengals

This game pits the 5-4 Philadelphia Eagles against the 1-8 Cincinnati Bengals.  The Eagles will likely come out throwing the ball against a Bengals’ defense allowing 193.7 yards passing per game.  Look for Donovan McNabb to have a lot of time to throw the ball in this game as the Bengals only have 9 sacks this season.  The Eagles will probably throw the ball deep much more than usual in this football game.  The Bengals allow 138.1 yards rushing per game and 4.2 yards per carry so Brian Westbrook and Correll Buckhalter will likely get there share of carries in this football game.

The Bengals must run the ball effectively this week to have any chance of scoring a upset.  That means Cedric Benson will have to get off against a Eagles’ defense that is only allowing 103.4 yards rushing per game and 3.8 yards per carry.  The Eagles will be bringing the heat against Ryan Fitzpatrick as they already have 28 sacks on the season while the Bengals have allowed 30.  Fitzpatrick gets rattled when he gets hit so look for him to make some big mistakes in this football game.
