The Philadelphia Eagles need to work on the offense during the bye week

The Eagles defense has been pretty solid this season as they are allowing 299.0 yards per game and 18.3 points per game.  But, the offense scored 56 points against the Lions in Week #3 but they have only scored 28 points in the other three games combined and that just won’t get it done.  The Eagles need to use other players in the offense instead of just giving the ball to Brian Westbrook as his body can’t withstand the beating he takes as he always breaks down.  Westbrook has rushed for 291 yards on 51 carries (5.7 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also has caught 19 passes for 223 yards (11.7 avg) with 1 TD catch in only 3 games.  Without him McNabb looked lost in the game against the Giants as he was sacked an amazing 12 times!  The bottom line is that the Eagles need to throw the ball down the field to the receivers like they did against the Lions.  They are wasting WR Reggie Brown who only has 8 catches for 81 yards (10.1 avg) so far this season.  The Eagles also need to get the ball more to Kevin Curtis as he is a playmaker.  He has caught 19 passes for 323 yards (17.0 avg) with 3 TD grabs.

New York Giants 16, Philadelphia Eagles 3

The Philadelphia Eagles never had a chance in this football game.  Poor Donovan McNabb was sacked an amazing 12 times including 6 times by Giants’ DE Osi Umenyiora!  McNabb only completed 15 of 31 passes for 138 yards with 0 TDs and 0 INTs.  The Eagles played without Brian Westbrook but Correll Buckhalter had a good game.  He carried the ball 17 times for 103 yards (6.1 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 35 yards (8.8 avg).  WR Kevin Curtis only caught 2 passes for 21 yards (10.5 avg) showing what a difference 1 week can make.  The Eagles rushed for 114 yards on 23 carries (5.0 ypc) and they completed 15 of 31 passes for 76 yards.

Can’t blame the Eagles defense for this loss as they played well.  Safety Quintin Mikell (11 tackles) and linebacker Omar Gaither (10 tackles, interception) were both outstanding.  The Giants finished up rushing for 83 yards on 27 carries (3.1 ypc) and they completed 14 of 26 passes for 129 yards.
