Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears

This is a matchup between two of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. The Bears (2-4) and Eagles (2-3) both had their eyes on making it to the Super Bowl this season….but they’ve both hit a roadblock so far this year.

If the Bears don’t get something out of the running game soon they are going to be in deep, deep trouble. Cedric Benson has been a stiff so far this season (370 yards rushing, 3.1 ypc. 2 lost fumbles) and the Eagles will be another tough team (91.2 yards rushing per game, 3.8 ypc) for him to succeed against. The Eagles will blitz a lot (19 sacks) to pressure Brian Griese into making some mistakes as the Bears offensive line is starting to look their age (18 sacks allowed). With that in mind look for the Bears to keep the passing game short and sweet.

The Eagles will likely run the ball more than usual against the Bears after watching them allow 311 yards rushing last week. Brian Westbrook (411 yards rushing, 259 yards receiving) will be all over the field in this game and it will be fun watching Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher chasing him around. The Eagles offensive line must handle the D-Line of the Bears which puts a lot of pressure on the passer. The Eagles might be forced to keep their passing game short just like the Bears likely will….but McNabb is a master at that.

Don’t look for Andy Reid to be dumb enough to kick the ball to Devin Hester which will take a big weapon out of the Bears arsenal.

PREDICTION: This game could go either way so I’ll take the home team by a field goal. EAGLES 23, BEARS 20.
