The Philadelphia Eagles are looking good at TE for 2007
The Eagles have a nice collection of tight ends and they will be a big part of the passing offense. L.J. Smith is the leader of the bunch. He played in 16 games (15 starts) last season for the Eagles and he caught 50 passes for 611 yards (12.2 avg) with 5 TD grabs. Look for similar numbers from him in 2007. He has now played in 63 games (44 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 172 passes for 1,991 yards (11.6 avg) with 14 TD grabs.
Matt Schobel will likely be the #2 TE this season for the Eagles. He played in 16 games (4 starts) last season and he caught 14 passes for 214 yards (15.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs. He has now played in 79 games (17 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 104 passes for 1,152 yards (11.1 avg) with 11 TD grabs.
Rookie Brent Celek has been impressive in Training Camp and he’s turning heads. It’s possible that he will bump Schobel down to third string if he keeps playing at such a high level.
