The Philadelphia Eagles make a big trade with the Buffalo Bills

The Eagles have acquired linebacker Takeo Spikes and QB Kelly Holcomb from the Bills for DT Darwin Walker and a late 2008 draft pick.  The Eagles decided that they needed another QB and LB and they traded from a position of strength as they are well fortified at defensive tackle.  Spikes played in 12 games for the Bills last season and he made 70 tackles, had a sack, defensed 3 passes and forced a fumble.  Holcomb didn’t play last season for the Bills.  Holcomb has played in 34 games (21 starts) and he has completed 523 of 810 passes (64.6%) for 5,401 yards with 37 TD passes and 37 interceptions (79.9 QB Rating).  He also has run the ball 43 times for 30 yards (0.7 ypc) with 1 TD run.  This was a good trade for both teams.

The Eagles sign DT Montae Reagor to a three year contract

The Eagles needed help on the interior line and they’re betting that a healthy Reagor can be the remedy they need.  He only played in 5 games due to a car wreck that hurt him badly last season.  He only made 10 tackles, had a sack, defensed a pass, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.  The Eagles made a smart gamble here and it should pay off for them this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles re-sign RB Correll Buckhalter

The Eagles have re-signed Buckhalter as a reward for his performance last season and for all of the hard work he put in to stay healthy.  He played in all 16 games (1 start) and he carried the ball 83 times for 345 yards (4.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 24 passes for 256 yards (10.7 avg) with 1 TD catch.  This was a good move for the Eagles.

The Eagles sign WR Kevin Curtis

THe Eagles have signed Kevin Curtis to a 6-year, $32 million dollar contract.  Curtis played in all 16 games for the St. Louis Rams last season and he caught 40 passes for 479 yards (12.0 avg) with 4 TD catches.  Curtis has been the #3 WR for the Rams for his whole career, but he’s too good to not be on the field all the time and the Eagles will team him with Reggie Brown to give Donovan McNabb a couple of emerging WRs to throw to.  Watch as Curtis explodes for 60+ catches and 1,000+ yards for the Eagles in 2007…..a great signing.

The Eagles re-sign cornerback William James

The Eagles have re-signed William James.  James will provide secondary depth for the Eagles this season.  He only played in 3 games this season and he made 7 tackles and defensed a pass.  He will be nothing more than a back up corner and special teams player.

The Eagles sign WR Bethel Johnson

Blogged under Big Eagles News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page by dawgpounded on Friday 9 March 2007 at 1:10 am

The Eagles have signed Bethel Johnson and they will give him a chance to compete for catches.  He played in 11 games (2 starts) for the Minnesota Vikings last season and he caught 9 passes for 156 yards (17.3 avg).  He also carried the ball 4 times for 8 yards (2.0 ypc).  The real reason the Eagles wanted Johnson was to return kickoffs for them.  He returned 45 kickoffs last season for 1,054 yards (23.4 avg).

The Eagles re-sign DE Juqua Thomas

The Eagles have signed DE Juqua Thomas to a new five year contract.  He played all 16 games last season for the Eagles and he made 25 tackles, had 6 sacks, defensed 3 passes and forced a fumble.  Thomas has a bright future for the Eagles and looks like a future starter for the team.
