The Eagles re-sign reserve safety Quintin Mikell

The Eagles have re-signed back up safety Quintin Mikell.  He is a two time special teams player of the year for the Eagles.  He also provides the Eagles with a solid back up to starting safety Sean Considine.  He played in all 16 games last season and he made 41 tackles, defended a pass and forced a fumble.

The Eagles extend A.J. Feeley’s contract for three more seasons

With this move the Eagles essentially have guaranteed that Jeff Garcia will not be back.  That shouldn’t surprise anyone because Garcia wants to be a starting QB at his advanced age and that just wasn’t going to happen in Philly for him.  Feeley has also played good for the Eagles so Andy Reid feels confident in him.

TEs productive for the Eagles

The TEs did a good job for the Eagles last season.  The Eagles TEs caught 64 passes for 825 yards with 7 TDs as a unit.  L.J. Smith played in all 16 games (15 starts) and he caught 50 passes for 611 yards (12.2 avg) with 5 TD grabs.  For his career, Smith has played in 63 games (44 starts) and he has caught 172 passes for 1,991 yards (11.6 avg) with 14 TD catches.

Matt Schobel played in 16 games (4 starts) and he caught 14 passes for 214 yards (15.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  For his career, Schobel has played in 79 games (17 starts) and he has caught 104 passes for 1,152 yards (11.1 avg) with 11 TD receptions.

The Eagles draft last April was awful

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,The Draft Report by ravenhater on Thursday 1 February 2007 at 4:54 pm

Four of the 8 players drafted by the Eagles last April didn’t play one down for them.  The Eagles only drafted one player last April that helped the team at all.  Here’s a breakdown:

In the first round the Eagles took DT Brodrick Bunkley played in 15 games and made 9 whole tackles.  Wow……I’m impressed!

4th round pick WR Jason Avant played in 8 games (3 starts) and he caught 7 passes for 68 yards (9.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He has the look of a #4 or #5 WR.

The best pick for the Eagles was fifth-rounder OLB Omar Gaither.  He played in all 16 games and made 62 tackles, had a sack, an interception and defensed 2 passes.  He looks like a starter for the Eagles.

In the 6th round the Eagles drafted DT LaJuan Ramsey.  Ramsey played in 6 games, made 5 tackles and had an interception.

OT Winston Justice (2nd rd.), DE Chris Gocong (3rd rd.), OG Max Jean-Gilles (4th rd.) and WR/KR Jeremy Bloom (5th rd.) didn’t play one down for the Eagles and that is pathetic!
