The Eagles played their first game without Donovan McNabb and the results were not pretty.  Jeff Garcia started the game and completed 19 of 23 passes for 140 yards and 2 TDs.  A.J. Feeley relieved him in the 4th quarter and completed 4 of 5 passes for 21 yards.  Brian Westbrook had a great game, carrying the ball 20 times for 124 yards (6.2 ypc) and a TD.  He also caught 7 passes for 46 yards.  Correll Buckhalter carried the ball 4 times for 18 yards (4.5 ypc) and caught 2 passes for 26 yards.  LJ Smith caught 4 passes for 21 yards and a TD.  Reggie Brown only caught 2 passes for 9 yards, but one of the catches was a TD.

The defense was pathetic against the Colts.   The Colts ran the ball 41 times for 237 yards (5.8 ypc).  The Colts only threw the ball 20 times, completing 14 for 183 net yards passing.

The Eagles are now 5-6 and fading into the sunset.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Eagles have lost 4 of their last 5 games and will have to go with Jeff Garcia at QB after Donovan McNabb’s devastating injury last week.  The Colts lost their first game of the season last week and look to rebound at home.

The Eagles will likely try to run the ball more with Garcia at QB.  Brian Westbrook (715 yards rushing) and Correll Buckhalter could cause huge problems for the Colts front 7 as the Colts are allowing 155.1 yards rushing per game and 4.9 yards per carry.  Don’t think for a minute that Andy Reid won’t still have Garcia chucking the ball up in the air alot.  LJ Smith and Brian Westbrook will work the short stuff, while Reggie Brown and Donte’ Stallworth will be challenging the Colts deep.

The Colts should be able to do anything they want against the Eagles defense.  The Eagles allow 129.7 yards rushing per game and 4.2 yards per carry, so the combo of Joseph Addai (618 yards rushing) and Dominic Rhodes (414 yards rushing) should have some success.  The Eagles defense kind of plays right into the Colts hands because of their frequent blitzing.  The Colts have only allowed Peyton Manning to be sacked 12 times this season, and he’s a master at making teams that blitz him pay for it.  Marvin Harrison (60 rec, 813 yards) and Reggie Wayne (55 rec, 885 yards) should both have good games.  Also, Manning has been using his tight-ends (Ben Utecht and Dallas Clark) alot as of late.

The Colts should win this football game with ease.  The drop from Donovan McNabb to Jeff Garcia is too steep for the Eagles offense not to suffer a bit.

Eagles lose McNabb for the season

Donovan McNabb left Sunday’s game with the Titans with a torn ACL that will end his season. McNabb finishes the season completing 180 of 316 passes (57%) for 2,647 yards with 18 TDs and 6 INTs.  McNabb also carried the football 32 times for 212 yards (6.6 ypc) and 3 TDs.  McNabb has been very unlucky, as he has suffered alot of major injuries in his career.

Coach Andy Reid hasn’t picked a starter between Jeff Garcia or AJ Feeley yet for next Sunday’s game against the Colts.

Eagles grouded by Titans 31-13

The Eagles couldn’t stop the Titans from running the football and allowed PacMan Jones to return a punt 90 yards for a TD.  The real reason to be disappointed as an Eagles fan is that Donovan McNabb tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season!

Donovan McNabb completed 6 of 13 passes for 78 yards and an INT in his final game of the season.  Jeff Garcia replaced McNabb and completed 26 of 48 passes for 189 yards and a TD.  Brian Westbrook was pretty busy all day long.  Westbrook carried the ball 22 times for 102 yards (4.6 ypc) and caught 12 passes for 46 yards.  Correll Buckhalter carried the ball 3 times for 16 yards and caught 6 passes for 41 more yards.  LJ Smith caught 7 passes for 57 yards and a TD.  Donte’ Stallworth added 4 catches for 75 yards.

Trent Cole led the way on defense with 8 tackles and 1.5 sacks.  The Eagles just couldn’t stop the Titans running game as Tennessee carried the ball 32 times for 209 yards (6.5 ypc).  The Titans only completed 8 of 22 passes for 84 net yards passing.

This was a loss that really will hurt the Eagles for a long time!
