Young DE stepping up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Friday 29 September 2006 at 11:26 pm

With Jevon Kearse out for the season, the Eagles needed someone to take his place.  Young DE Trent Cole is the guy stepping up.  Cole is a second year player out of the University of Cincinnati.  In his rookie year, Cole had five sacks…..he has already matched that total this season.  The sky is the limit for this young player.

Eagles vs. Packers

Blogged under Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Friday 29 September 2006 at 11:50 am

The Eagles have been an offensive machine so far this season, averaging 436 yards per game and 28.7 points.  The Packers have been hot on offense the last two games averaging 32.5 points.

Look for the Packers to attempt to run the ball with Ahman Green (215 yards)  and throw short passes.  The Eagles already have 16 sacks, so Favre will have to be careful and not panic.  WRs Donald Driver (269 yards) and Greg Jennings (173 yards) could have huge games if the offensive line gives Favre time to throw the ball.

The Eagles will try to utilize Brian Westbrook (256 yds. rushing, 164 yds receiving) against the Packers LBs who have played the run tough so far this season.  Donovan McNabb (960 yards) should have a great game against a porous Packers secondary that allows 301 yards passing per game.

I look for the Eagles to win a high-scoring, entertaining football game.

Eagles jump Niners and never look back in 38-24 win

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Tuesday 26 September 2006 at 1:38 am

The Eagles came onto the field breathing fire after last week’s meltdown.  Donovan McNabb completed 18 of 33 passes for 296 yards and 2 TDs.  Brian Westbrook had an outstanding game as he carried the ball 8 times for 117 yards and 2 TDs, he also caught 4 passes for 47 yards and a TD.  WR Reggie Brown caught 5 passes for 106 yards.  TE LJ Smith caught 3 passes for 19 yards and a TD.

The defense gave up alot of yards after the game already was decided.  Shawn Barber had 10 tackles, Jeremiah Trotter had 8 tackles, S Mike Lewis had 7 tackles and a sack.  DT Mike Patterson returned a fumble 98 yards for a TD.  The Niners ran the ball 28 times for 123 yards (4.4 ypc).  The Niners also completed 58.7% of their passes for 269 net yards.

Eagles vs. 49ers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Thursday 21 September 2006 at 12:36 pm

This should be an entertaining game between two teams that have excelled on offense but have had a little trouble with the D.

The Eagles have always been a pass-first team and this week will be no different. Donovan McNabb is off to a sizzling start throwing for 664 yards and 5 TDs in the first two weeks. Look for McNabb to nickel and dime early in the game throwing to RB Brian Westbrook and TE LJ Smith. Soon as the Niner defense cheats up a little, McNabb will shoot over the top to Donte’ Stallworth and Reggie Brown.

The Niners would prefer to run the football and keep the Eagles offense on the sideline. Frank Gore has been great this season rushing for 214 yards so far. QB Alex Smith looks like a totally different QB this season. With CBs Lito Sheppard and Rod Hood out, look for the 49ers to attack that side of the field with WR Arnaz Battle and Michael Robinson. Smith has been going deep to WR Antonio Bryant (8 rec, 245 yds.) and the Eagles will have to be aware of where he’s at all the time.

The Eagles should win, but I wouldn’t be shocked in the Niners pulled an upset.

Hood and Sheppard doubtful Sunday

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by ravenhater on Thursday 21 September 2006 at 8:29 am

CBs Roderick Hood (heel) and Lito Sheppard (ankle) are both doubtful for Sunday.  Street free-agent Joselio Hanson or recently signed Dexter Wynn expected to start.  Look for Alex Smith to pick on them Sunday.

Jevon Kearse out for season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by ravenhater on Tuesday 19 September 2006 at 12:02 pm

Jevon Kearse will miss the remainder of the season due to sprains of his MCL, LCL, and PCL.  This is a huge loss for the Eagles as Kearse had 2.5 sacks Sunday against the Giants.

Eagles choke against Giants, losing 30-24 in OT

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Monday 18 September 2006 at 4:20 pm

What a shocker this game was! The Eagles had a 24-7 lead at the start of the third quarter and choked due to a utter lack of a running game to burn the clock. Donovan McNabb completed 27 of 45 passes (60%) for 350 yards and 2 TDs. McNabb also ran the ball 4 times for 31 yards (7.8 ypc). RB Brian Westbrook ran the ball 19 times for 68 yards (3.6 ypc) and a TD, he also caught 7 passes for 56 yards (8.0 avg). Despite the numbers, Westbrook was one of the key reasons that the Eagles lost this game with a fumble in the 4th quarter. TE LJ Smith caught 7 passes for 111 yards (15.9 avg). Donte’ Stallworth had another good game catching 5 passes for 81 yards (16.2 avg) and a TD. WR Reggie Brown caught one pass and it was a 23 yard TD.

The Eagles defense played great for 3 quarters, but awful in the 4th quarter and OT. LB Shawn Barber had 9 tackles, S Michael Lewis had 8 tackles and S Brian Dawkins had 9 tackles. DE Trent Cole had 2 sacks, and Jevon Kearse had 2.5 sacks. The Eagles held the Giants high-powered running attack to 86 yards and only 3.3 yards per carry. Eli Manning completed 72.1% of his passes against the Eagles secondary for 318 net yards in the air.

This game is going to leave a scar on the morale of the Eagles team.

Missing the Fans

Living in Flordia is difficult for an EAGLES fan without satelite tv.  Can anyone tell me where I can go to watch and listen to the EAGLES this Sunday?

Eagles vs. Giants

Blogged under Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Thursday 14 September 2006 at 10:49 pm

The Giants dominated the game they played last week against the Colts, but somehow they lost the game.  The Giants look to change absolutely nothing against the Eagles.  The Giants front 7 will cause all kinds of problems for the Eagles just like they did against the Colts.  The Eagles will quickly find out that they’re not playing the Texans again this week.  The Eagles will try to stay balanced again this week, but the Giants will probably be able to shut down Philly’s running game.  If that happens, Donovan McNabb will have to get rid of the ball quickly against the Giants all-World defensive ends.

The Eagles defense will try to shut the run down and force Eli Manning to beat them.  Manning will be looking around for DB Roderick Hood who’s replacing Lito Sheppard due to injury.  The thought here is that the Giants will be able to move the ball on the Eagles improved defense.  This should be a great, hard-hitting football game that could go either way.
