Roster depth deep at quarterback
Donovan McNabb is at a crossroads. McNabb was a warrior playing last year all beat up both physically and mentally, it will be interesting to see how he responds. When McNabb is healthy, his threat to run makes him a great QB, but we’ll have to see what last year took out of him. Also, his best year was with T.O. as his top receiver…this year it will be Reggie Brown. McNabb has put up some great numbers in his career though. McNabb has appeared in 94 games (88 starts) and has completed 58.4% of his passes for 19,433 yards with 134 TD passes and only 66 interceptions for a QB rating of 84.1. McNabb has also rushed for 2,514 yards (6.1 ypc) and 21 touchdowns. I look for McNabb to rebound as he feels he has something to prove.
Jeff Garcia was signed on to back-up McNabb. Garcia is starting to slip but still is a good choice as a security blanket for the Eagles. Garcia has played 91 games (86 starts) and completed 60.9% of his passes for 19,076 yards with 126 TD and 71 INT for a career rating of 85.8. Garcia has also rushed for 1,791 yards (4.8 ypc) with 24 TD. Garcia is another one who doesn’t really like T.O.
Koy Detmer is a decent #3 QB. Detmer has appeared in 103 games (only 8 starts) and has completed 52.0% of his passes for 1,944 yards with 10 TD and 14 INT for a career rating of 61.2. Detmer doesn’t have much arm strength, but he is a good game manager.
